Recently I was at a social gathering where some affluent friends were present. The table talk among the ladies inevitably led to discussions of how terrible the husbands and marriages were. I listened to the voices of the privileged ladies and felt somewhat bemused.

I wonder why it is so difficult for society to offer equitable opportunities to women that would enable them to develop into contributing members of the society.

The earthquake of 25 April 2015 was an opportunity to learn about crisis management, humanitarian work, and identify opportunistic people seeking publicity; it was also an opportunity to witness how small gestures demonstrate bravery and generosity.
